and each time we picked a site, the navy turned it down. finally, about six or eight months ago we found two sites and we asked the navy again and they refused. but this time they actually gave us an answer and they said that they really didn't want a dog park because it was too detrimental to the ground. it tore up the ground. and, you know, they didn't want it. and, so, shortly after that we found that the radiation sites had -- there had been more sites that had opened up. and, so, we find that it's a little bit strange that this all happened at this particular time. and we're sort of wondering why did this happen at this particular point in time and who is involved and who knew and when. one of the things i really want to talk about is that, for the record, i'm very much for this redevelopment because i'm not certain how much longer i can take twice weekly blackouts and roads that haven't been repaired and cannot be repaired because it's too costly. the state apparently has to come supervise the digging of the roads up and, so, nothing

united states navy, the canadian fleet as well and they're leadership. this is a special week and we have of course many activities. but this is one that i have focused on much because it's not only a celebration and a thank you to our men and women in uniform, but all we're practicing those very things, those now progressive things that we're identifying that are gaps, ones that i continue thanking our city agencies, our port, office of emergency management and all the agencies in the city are so appreciative of this opportunity and the practice what they have been learning on table exercises. and then to get to see the landing of a hover craft on ocean beach. to be able to talk to the actual navy personnel as to how they can do a pop-up tent of an emergency trauma center at ocean beach within an hour and communicate and practice that exercise is invaluable to our city as we prepare more and more the details and gain on the expertise that our military has with respect to logistics. this is what makes us so happy, charlotte, to be in our great city. i kn
